McLean Project for the Arts

MPA/Corcoran Student Exhibition

1234 Ingleside Avenue, McLean, Virginia 22101
June 12 - August 2, 2014

Sthreshley exhibited a large fabric work with two photographs he took at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, where he worked as the Senior Lighting Designer. The photo on the left is of a contractor behind a barrier of sheet plastic who is tasked with closing in a gallery window with drywall.* The photo on the right is of a sculpture on the grand staircase that was illuminated briefly with refracted daylight. The name and text refer to the long history and the turmoil surrounding the demise of a once great institution.

* Forty two windows were blocked when the last remaining piece of property was sold to a commercial developer.
